Rallying the Troops

I stand by my remarks a month ago.

A 5-4-1 October (which, consequently, is what I predicted) is nothing to be upset about. Sure, the last five games have been somewhat lean, but if the Leafs bring Saturday's effort against a team like Ottawa (compared to trying to get anything past Lundqvist), they can win. Nay, they should win. Washington and Buffalo later this week should be no easy task, so 2 points tonight would be rather helpful.

As Kevin Garnett said, "Anything is possible." Versteeg won't slump forever. Bozak won't slump forever. Kaberle will again learn to play D. Phaneuf will find the fire within him. And our goaltending and special teams will continue to get it together. Just get shots on net, and the goals should be soon to follow.

Maybe I'm an eternal optimist right now, but if I am, it's because this team has more potential and play a harder, better team game than Leafs team I've seen since the lockout. If they work hard, they have it in them to compete for a win every night, and I can only hope they'll spend more time on the winning end than not.

I still believe; do you?
